After a 30-year break from coarse fishing, I returned to 7 Lakes Aldermaston to see whether I could still remember the basics.

Fishing on the beginner lake with a float setup, I managed to catch eight roach in around three hours.

There were plenty of lessons to relearn, including plumbing the depth correctly, positioning shot weights and dealing with tackle issues, but it was great to be back on the bank.

Most importantly, I caught fish and rediscovered a hobby that I had not enjoyed for many years.
